20 Things to Compliment on Besides the Body
Written By: Cindi Powell, MS, RD, LDN, CPT, RYT
Compliments are usually said with good intention, right? However, complimenting one’s appearance can also have harmful effects. By commenting on someone’s appearance it can encourage them to value themselves on the way they look rather than their character or values. We never know what others are going through or what insecurities they may or may not have.
Instead, here are some ways to compliment someone that do not focus on physical appearance:
- You are such a great listener. I always feel heard
- Your confidence is something I aspire to
- You bring out the best of me
- Your strength is inspiring
- You are dependable. I always feel safe around you
- You have a great personality
- You are such a kind friend
- You are so passionate about the things you care about
- You are so optimistic, when I’m feeling down I know I can turn to you
- Your honesty is something I really appreciate. I know I can count on you to tell me the truth.
- You are non judgemental. I can talk to you about anything.
- You have the best energy. It really lifts me up being around you.
- You are the best hype person
- Your laugh is contagious
- You motivate me
- Your smile lights up a room
- You have such a big heart
- You are so real and authentic
- You give the most thoughtful gifts
- You are a positive influence on the people around you
